Does this make a significant difference?Ĥ. Resonators seem to come in various woods, primarily maple and mahogany, but I have seen walnut. I have read the descriptions of the types of heads, are there some I should stay away from and how do I recognize the type of head if it is not listed.ģ. I have heard Page tuners are not that great, should I request that these be changed and if so, to what (maybe someone could give me a brief description of the various tuners out there)?Ģ. Additionally, I do not live near any of the shops recommended by those on this site, so I will be buying without playing it. We are not in a position to do our own repairs or upgrades, so I want to buy an instrument that already has had repairs completed. Her instructor plays a MasterTone and she loves it. She currently plays an entry level instrument. The instrument is for my teenage daughter. I am in the market for a vintage banjo and am looking at Vega, Paramount, Bacon and Day and Gibson (although these may be out of my price range). I have read with interest the numerous discussions on this site around banjos, but have a few questions I hope the experts can answer.
